Reformation Dinner – October 30, 2016

On Sunday, October 30, 2016, Christ the King celebrated the kick-off of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. On October 31, 1517, tradition has it that Martin Luther, Roman Catholic monk, posted 95 theses listing criticisms of the Roman Catholic Church on the door of the Castle Church of Wittenberg, Germany. Luther’s theses were published and credited with igniting what became known as the Protestant Reformation.

After Reformation worship services, Christ the King held a catered German dinner with pork schnitzel, cabbage rolls, spaetzle, and pastries to celebrate. Because red is the liturgical color for Reformation, everyone was encouraged to wear red (some of which included Cleveland Indians baseball apparel because of their appearance in the 2016World Series.) CtK Youth served the meal.
