Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday/Sunday of the Passion worship. Worship on that day begins with at 10:00 AM with a procession into the sanctuary with palms and includes a dramatic reading of the Gospel account of Jesus’ Passion leading to his death on a cross, which is why the day is also referred to as Passion Sunday. The service includes Holy Communion. Sunday of the Passion/Palm Sunday will be March 29th, 2026. Pastor John Butchko will preside at the service. Maundy Thursday, April 2nd, 2926, is the day in the church year when Christians commemorate Jesus’ Last Supper in the Upper Room with his disciples where he instituted the sacrament of Holy Communion, prior to his betrayal by Judas Iscariot. It is the official end of Lent and the beginning of the Triduum, or Three Days, leading up to Christ’s resurrection on Easter morning. Historically, Maundy Thursday worship has been a service with Holy Communion and the stripping of the altar in anticipation of the following day – Good Friday. Good Friday, April 3rd, 2026 is the most somber day of the Christian year when we remember Jesus’ death on the cross. The Good Friday worship service at Christ the King has historically been a service of darkness and shadows as we remember Jesus’ crucifixion. The service concludes with a somber veneration of the cross. The photo at left shows the altar during Good Friday worship. Good Friday will be at 7:00 PM on April 3rd, 2026. Worship on Easter Sunday or The Resurrection of Our Lord – the holiest day of the Christian year – as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection fro the dead will be at 10:00 AM on April 5th, 2026. Pastor Sarah Taylor will preside. A reception follows the service.
